Sunshine Coast Psychologist Melissa Prior to IWC she has been in a variety of professional and medical settings in Queensland and the Northern Territory over 15 years and has spent two years in the remote Barkly desert region with the Warumungu and Walpiri people. Treatment offered has been across men, women, adolescents, and children and backgrounds of varied culture, sexual identity, ability, life experience and family dynamics.
Screening and treatment for such concerns as: Anxiety and panic, stress or adjusting to life changes, trauma, anger, sleep issues, substance use or behavioural issues, difficult emotions, workplace conflict, parenting worry, relationship difficulties, depression, grief and loss or unhelpful thinking. Melissa will listen to your story, learn your strengths, and provide evidenced strategies most effective in making positive change.
Meeting diversity she has a wide range of therapeutic approaches in her practice. Clinical modalities of treatment include: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT); Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT); Schema Therapy; Mindfulness; Creative Art & Play Therapy; Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR); Narrative approach, Circle of Security & The Gottman Model.
